Brandon Harris (Bossier City, La. Parkway) is the hottest quarterback recruit in the nation and has been offered by six SEC schools and Ohio State in this month alone to bring his number of offers to 17, but it is the programs in the southeast that have Harris excited the most.

Alabama, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Auburn joined Arkansas as teams in the west division to offer this week, but it is the latest offer from LSU that has many proclaiming the Tigers to be knocking off A&M as the favorite to land the No. 5 dual-threat quarterback and four-star recruit (according to 247Sports).

LSU offensive coordinator Cam Cameron extended the offer in person after visiting Harris on May 8 to cap the whirlwind week of offers for the 6-2 1/2 and 193-pound signal caller. Rarely does LSU let elite talents get out of the Pelican State and even though it is very early in his recruitment, I think this comes down to a two-team race between A&M and LSU.

With Harris planning to get on campus for visits in the first week of June, he will soon  have a clearer indication of where he wants to be. Expect him to trim his list of schools after his visits, which will be difficult considering the caliber of programs that have Harris as the No. 1 quarterback on their board.

In comments made to Shea Dixon of 247Sports, Cameron offered some high praise to Harris that has Harris and his father excited about the opportunities awaiting him in the near future. “The one thing that coach Cameron has told me that stuck out is that I have the potential to be a first-round draft pick,” Harris said. “Even today, he told my coach I have that NFL talent that they want at LSU.”

Aggies quarterbacks coach Jake Spavital is the primary recruiter of Harris, and is undoubtedly selling him on becoming the next Johnny Manziel in the Aggies offense, but currently my prediction is that Harris winds up at LSU.

Harris is coming off a junior season when he threw for 2,673 yards and 26 touchdown, and has accepted an invitation to participate in the Under Armour All-American Game.
