Michigan State WR Commit Jay Harris Makes Questionable Choice, Chooses Rap Career
Michigan State lost yet another commitment this offseason. This time, they didn’t lose him to another school as they did Drake Harris to Michigan, the Spartans lost 2013 wide receiver commitment Jay Harris to an alternate career choice: rap.
While he isn’t the first person to be on track to enroll at Michigan State just to skip college and pursue a rap career. Yes, I said he wasn’t the first to pick rap over the Spartans. However, the previous one was not going to be a college football player, he ended up making the right choice it seems. His name is Big Sean and he is what you would call ‘successful’.
That’s beside the point, however, as the three-star receiver from Pennsylvania has yet to suit up in the green and white, yet decided that college was not the best choice for him.
He is an average rapper at best, as you can find his music videos on YouTube, going by the name Jay DatBull and posting his first single to the video sharing site by the title “DatBull 4 Life”. If you have seen the video, you can probably tell he is not the best, but he thinks he is good enough to make it.
In the nature of letting your kids do what they love, Harris’ parents have to be happy that their son is happy, but I can almost guarantee that is not the case.
Giving up going to school and playing football at a top university to pursue a career in rap– something that is nowhere near a guarantee– cannot be the best thing for the kid.
In my opinion, he should have given MSU a shot, at least ensuring he had a backup plan before he ultimately decided upon rap. However, I’m not an aspiring rapper, so what do I know, right?
