Top high school athlete Jabrill Peppers of Paramus Catholic HS in Paramas, NJ, has verbally committed to play football for Brady Hoke and the Michigan Wolverines. Peppers, a consensus five star football recruit, had offers from many top programs like Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, Penn State and USC, among others.

While Peppers is listed as an athlete by some recruiting sites, most scouts agree his future will be at the cornerback position. He is a player with freakish speed and athletic ability, so he should make an impact early on in Ann Arbor.

While cornerback is the projected position for Peppers at the collegiate level, don’t count out the possibility of him playing on the offensive side of the ball.

On offense for Paramus Catholic, Peppers would line up at wildcat quarterback, running back, and wide receiver and made huge plays at each position. He has the ability to outrun everybody once he breaks free and is a shifty runner in the open field. He reminds you of someone like Reggie Bush with the ball in his hands, and he is also extremely dangerous in the return game.

On the defensive side of the ball, Peppers is a big, physical defender from the corner position. He is much better in man-to-man coverage than in zone, and he has the ability to turn and run with anyone on the field. He has great hands too, which will be a good asset for him at the college level.

In run situations, he comes up and hits the ball carrier with force, which isn’t something you see from high school corners everyday. While it may be a stretch of a comparison, many people are comparing Peppers to Charles Woodson from his days as a Wolverine. Expect Peppers to be in the conversation early for playing time in Michigan’s secondary come fall.
