LSU Tigers To Host 4-Star Dual-Threat Quarterback DeShone Kizer
LSU is hosting DeShone Kizer (Toledo, Ohio, Central Catholic) on Jun. 14, a mere five days after the four-star quarterback visits Notre Dame, who recently offered the dual-threat quarterback on Jun. 5, and is presumed to be the favorite for his services.
The Tigers offered Kizer in late Feb., but this will be the first visit for the 6-foot-5, 207-pound signal caller, who will also visit Alabama and potentially Tennessee before making a decision about his college plans.
LSU signed two four-star quarterbacks, Hayden Rettig and Anthony Jennings, in their 2013 class and are considered the favorite to sign Brandon Harris (Bossier City, La., Parkway). The visit will provide clarity for Kizer as far as playing time, academics and his relationships with coaches Les Miles and Cam Cameron, in particular.
I believe LSU is viewing Kizer as a very nice insurance should they lose out on in-state product Harris, but it is very possible that LSU could lose out on both. Harris has interest in Alabama, Auburn and Ohio State, and Kizer’s interest in Notre Dame is evident by his visiting four days after receiving his offer from the Fighting Irish.
A stellar visit could change things, as many have been known to fall in love at first sight when on the LSU campus, but it appears that LSU will have to make up some ground on Notre Dame when Kizer visits this weekend.
Kizer was selected to participate at The Opening and compete at the Elite 11 this summer. He passed for 1,147 yards with 10 touchdowns and ran for 540 yards and four more touchdowns last season as a junior en route to a state championship.
