North Carolina State had to battle Auburn all the way to the end, but it paid off Saturday when three star offensive guard Terrone Prescod committed to the Wolfpack.  He became the 21st member of the class of 2014 that’s verbally committed to NC State.

Prescod is a monster on the inside, using his 6-foot-5 335 lbs. frame to maul opposing defenders.  He hasn’t shown great explosiveness getting off the ball, but once he gets locked on, he’s difficult to shed.  His pad level tends to get a little high, but that will improve with strength and conditioning.

He will most likely redshirt his first year on campus, giving him time to get stronger and improve as a pass blocker.  He’s shown the ability to move his feet well on the interior, but is inconsistent with his punch.  In time, he could end up being an outstanding guard for NC State and has the size that simply can’t be taught.

The Decatur, Georgia native had visited NC State three time in two months, trying to figure out if it was the right fit.  Auburn was the main competition, but he was also considering an in-state team, Georgia Tech.  Yesterday, however, the 23rd ranked guard decided to pull the trigger for the Wolfpack.

The Wolfpack are now tied with Texas for the most commitments in the country with 21.  This recent rash of verbal commitments has vaulted NC State up to No. 16 in the Rivals Team Rankings.

National Signing Day is still months away, but NC State fans have to be impressed with the efforts of head coach Dave Doeren.
