Johnny Manziel‘s offseason habits have taken precedence over a lot of college football happenings, but now Johnny Football is even dominating the USA Today College Football Coaches Poll. Each year, the gluttonous coaches of the college football world nail out a list of the top 25 programs in the country. Well, Manziel and his Texas A&M Aggies are out of the top five for the 2013-14 campaign.
As crazy as it sounds, the Aggies weren’t even the second SEC team on the list, as the Georgia Bulldogs sneaked in at the No. 4 slot. While this may not be bulletin-board material, the folks down in College Station make a big deal over just about everything, so the No. 6 spot likely rubs a lot of Aggies fans the wrong way.
In all fairness, A&M was able to accomplish something that the Bulldogs weren’t able to last fall — beat the Alabama Crimson Tide. Georgia had their shot to slay the beast that was Alabama in 2012, yet the Bulldogs left with their tail between their legs.
One thing’s for certain: A&M’s three-headed monster of Manziel, running back Ben Malena and wide receiver Mike Evans aren’t going to be too happy about being behind two conference foes in the polls. Thankfully, the regular season is less than a month away and all of this offseason drama — including the polls — can be replaced by box scores and actual game highlights.
For now, Manziel has even more “haters” to prove wrong on the field or blast on Twitter — both of which are likely to happen.
