Unveiled on Thursday was the new gigantic logo on the football field at Texas A&M University-Commerce (formerly East Texas State University), the largest in the nation. The NCAA Division II affiliate of Texas A&M has set a new standard in the movement by artwork to overtake college sports (specifically football) and A&M-Commerce is to be applauded because this new design is awesome.

The logo is part of a string of renovations to Memorial Stadium in Commerce, Texas, which are part of a new era of Lion athletics, headlined by the arrival of new athletic director Ryan Ivey in January. The gigantic graphic that stretches from sideline to sideline is a slightly more modern version of the traditional A&M-Commerce logo.

As you can see in the other pictures of the renovated field, an A&M-Commerce game is not something you’d see while watching a primetime NCAA Division I contest on television, but the folks in the revamped Lion athletics department are clearly dedicated to putting Commerce on the map and the giant new logo is certainly appreciated by at least this lone TAMUC alumnus.

Fans will get a first look at the new field “in action” at the Lions’ first home football game of the season on Saturday, Sept. 7 against Sul Ross State. Lone Star Conference play will begin for A&M-Commerce on Saturday, Sept. 28 against Midwestern State University.
