2013 San Jose State Spartans Player Profile: David Fales

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

The San Jose State Spartans are not a team you have probably heard of if you follow college football. However, the entire nation will find out about them this season because the Spartans have one of the most efficient offenses in the entire country due to their talented quarterback David Fales.

Fales was in the top010 for passing yards, completions and touchdowns in 2012. He was third overall in quarterback rating. His most impressive accomplishment, however, was that he led the country in completion percentage. He led Heisman winner Johnny Manziel in every major quarterback category last season, and will have that type of season once again in 2013.

Fales also has one of the best returning receivers in the country on his team in Noel Grigsby, who finished the 2012 season as the receiver with the 10th=most yards in the entire NCAA. With a quarterback as talented as Fales and a target like that running down the field, expect his numbers to continue to be extremely high.

The only real hole that you can poke in Fales’s game is that his opposition this season isn’t at top level. However, he will have chances to shine this season and should put up huge numbers against the weaker opposition.

Whether or not Fales is the real deal at QB will be determined on September 7, when San Jose State takes on the Stanford Cardinal and their star quarterback Kevin Hogan. This game will be a battle between two of the top quarterbacks in the country — expect Fales to shine in the spotlight.
