Florida State Seminoles’ Jameis Winston Steals the Show at Media Day

Florida State redshirt freshman quarterback Jameis Winston was the star of FSU Media Day Sunday morning, dropping some hilarious lines for the reporters in attendance.

When asked by a reporter about “Manziel disease” (a reference to the off-field issues Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel has had this offseason), Winston replied, ”If I ever get Manziel disease, I want all of you to smack me in the head with your microphones.”

While that line will rub some people the wrong way, it was a harmless jab at Manziel, making light of all the negative attention the Aggies signal caller has received since winning the Heisman.

It didn’t stop there.

It’s been said that Winston has tremendous charisma and has the “it” factor that coaches covet so much. When asked by a white reporter about his fun-loving personality, the gregarious Winston joked, “I could make you feel comfortable in a black church.”

It was undoubtedly the line of the day.

All joking aside, Winston has the potential to be the next Manziel of college football. He performed brilliantly in Florida State’s spring game, leading Clint Trickett to transfer to West Virginia. While it was only a meaningless spring game, that doesn’t dampen the expectation for Winston.

Although Jimbo Fisher hasn’t named him the starter yet, Florida States fans are eager to see their prized recruit on the field. While EJ Manuel did a great job in turning Florida State back into a contender, many Noles fans think Winston has what it takes to put the program back on top.

Time will tell if that’s the case. But one thing is for certain, the social media ban that Florida State players have during the season is going to deny us of some creative lines from the next star in college football, Jameis Winston.
