Jameis Winston Makes Much Anticipated Debut Tonight for Florida State Seminoles
Redshirt freshman Florida State Seminoles quarterback Jameis Winston makes his highly anticipated debut tonight taking on the Pittsburgh Panthers. Winston was the number one recruited quarterback and a highly touted baseball prospect as well in 2012, but he decided to go to college instead of going pro in baseball.
Winston only redshirted in 2012 due to then starting quarterback E.J. Manuel being the incumbent starter and the Seminoles didn’t want to lose any of his possible eligibility. He is already a big-framed quarterback standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing in at 227 pounds which is almost the ideal size already for the pro game. If he develops and progresses over the next three to four seasons, we could be looking at one of the most talked about college prospects to ever come out of Florida State. And considering who’s come out of the school in the last 30 years, that is saying something.
The biggest knocks on him are his accuracy and he can be incredibly streaky. That being said those are extremely fixable for a quarterback coach to work on in college. Some of his strengths are he’s a natural born leader with his teammates. In addition to having a more than sufficient arm to throw the down the field passes, he is incredibly athletic and can beat you with his running abilities as well.
All in all, it should be interesting and likely entertaining to see what Jameis Winston does tonight for the Seminoles. Let’s see if he lives up to the hype.
