How many people across the sports world were absolutely repulsed by Johnny Manziel this past Saturday? People were killing the Texas A&M quarterback for his actions during the team’s win over Rice. How could he!?
I guess some people still don’t understand – Johnny Football doesn’t care what anybody thinks. You can call him selfish or whatever you want, but the bottom line is that the guy just doesn’t give a rip about his public perception. If he did, he would have cleaned up his act months ago. I think it’s safe to assume at this point, that he’s not going to straighten up and fly right.
I’m over it. Sure, he should probably act with a little more class out there on the field, but at this juncture, his actions should be viewed as mere entertainment. If you’re putting a lot of stock into what a 20-year old does on a football field, you may want to get your priorities straight. If you like college football, you can chose to hate him, root for him or be like me and just not care.
He’s yet to hurt anybody but himself with all of his actions. Sure, that could change. But until that happens, Manziel is only ‘damaging’ himself.
The best way I heard it described over the weekend was on Twitter. People were calling him a real-life pro wrestling heel (an antagonist). That’s basically what he is now to the majority of fans across the country. So my advice to everyone is to take it for what it is – a 20-year old out there playing football and yucking it up along the way. If you hate that sort of thing, maybe you should just change the channel when A&M is on…
