Georgia vs. South Carolina Underway on Social Media

Apparently, we don’t have to wait until Saturday for Georgia vs. South Carolina, as the two have collaborated for a friendly social media competition to see which school’s photo can generate the most buzz. Each institution posted an iconic photo to their official social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at 11 a.m. The photo that receives the most likes, shares and comments from fans on Facebook and the most re-tweets on Twitter will win the competition, which wraps up at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5.

South Carolina’s iconic photo features none other than Jadeveon Clowney. He’s in mid air flying menacingly toward Georgia’s Aaron Murray, apparently transformed from a Gamecock into a fierce bird of prey.

Georgia posted a photo of former defensive end David Pollack making arguably the most impressive interception ever, essentially taking the ball from Gamecocks’ quarterback Corey Jenkins in the endzone during the 2002 version of UGA-USC. Make sure to look up both photos.

The winner will, in addition to new likes and followers, gain a crucial advantage in absolutely nothing. This begs the question: Is there really a need to hype the fan bases up even more? Surely, folks in Athens and Columbia know what’s on the line this weekend – control of the SEC East Division race.

In any case, it should be fun for Bulldogs and Gamecocks fans. I wonder if Steve Spurrier tweets much?
