Louisville vs. Kentucky: Game Preview With TV Schedule

Louisville

Jamie Rhodes-USA TODAY Sports

The Louisville Cardinals are finally on the map in the college football world. Teddy Bridgewater leads a serious Heisman campaign in 2013 for a team that has a very likely chance of going undefeated. Head coach Charlie Strong has to be happy with the direction his team is headed.

On the other side of the field, the Kentucky Wildcats are one win away from equaling last year’s total of two. Sitting at 1-1, Mark Stoops‘ squad looks to be a bit improved from the 2-10 team a year ago. However, they will need more than just a win against Miami (OH) to prove they are better.

Louisville, as stated earlier, is led by a guy named Teddy Bridgewater. The junior quarterback is one of the best at his position in the nation and his stats reflect that. He has 752 yards passing to go along with nine touchdowns and an interceptions through two games. Oh, and did I mention he is completing nearly 77 percent of his passes? This kid is a stud. He will get help in the run game from transfer Michael Dyer who should get more carries as the season progresses.

Kenctucky, on the other hand, is led by quarterback Maxwell Smith who is off to a great start in 2013. The young gunslinger has 435 passing yards to go along with four touchdowns and no interceptions. Raymond Sanders and Jalen Whitlow lead a solid rushing attack that averaged 239 points per game.

Defensively, Kentucky allowed 487 yards of total offense in a loss to lowly Western Kentucky in week one. They were improved in week two, allowing just 122 total yards against Miami and looked like a completely different team. Louisville has allowed no more than 275 total yards to either of its first two opponents. This rivalry game could get ugly.

Louisville will hit the road, traveling to Kentucky to take on the Wildcats at 12 p.m. EST on Saturday, Sept. 14. The game will be aired on ESPN.

PREDICTION: Louisville 45, Kentucky 13
