Texas A&M Aggies: What We Learned In Week 2, What To Look For In Week 3

Johnny Manziel and the rest of No. 6 Texas A&M‘s (2-0, 0-0) offense look like they’re ready for the rematch with top ranked Alabama (1-0, 0-0). Johnny Football threw for 403 yards and three touchdowns, and ran for another score in less than three quarters to give the Aggies a 65-28 win over Sam Houston State (1-1) Saturday night.

In two games, A&M’s offense is averaging exactly 600 yards and more than 58 points. Of course, the defenses of Rice (0-1, 0-0) and Sam Houston State are a far cry from what Alabama will put in front of Manziel and company Saturday. Still, the Aggies look spectacular on offense.

The defense, however, has been a different story. This unit has struggled through key injuries and suspensions so far, ranking 84th in scoring defense and giving up an average of nearly 450 yards per game, despite facing two inferior opponents. That’s not a good sign for a unit getting ready to face a Crimson Tide offense that has had an extra week to prepare and has a lot to prove after a poor opening performance. The Aggies get a few key guys back this week and also have a lot to prove. With that in mind, the battle between these two units could be as interesting to watch as the A&M offense against the Bama defense.

What to look for in Week 3: The “Johnny Cam!” CBS Sports announced that it will have a camera isolated on the Texas A&M quarterback for the entire broadcast, just in case you’re not already over saturated with Manziel Mania.
