5 Biggest College Football Upsets Of Week 3

.
Joshua S. Kelly- USA TODAY Sports

As Week 3 rolls in there are a new batch of upsets that are ripe for the picking. Last week, my College Football upsets had a couple close calls and did score one with the Miami win over Florida. This week should be much more successful as I have poured into these matchups like Mel Kiper and analyzed every little detail down to how the grass was being cut to ensure optimum upset capability.

The truth is some of these really shouldn't even be called upsets as I find that the wrong team was favored in a couple of these matchups. Obviously, Vegas has their reasons for setting their lines like they do but just off my eye test a few of these underdogs really don't have the feel of underdogs. I'm not picking the one that is on all of your minds which is Johnny Football's Texas A&M over Alabama. I have learned that picking against Alabama over the last few years is a great way to lose your job as a sports writer. You don't pick against Alabama because they simply don't lose.

So I present to you the five biggest upsets of Week 3, you will be surprised by some but each of these teams have their chances and I think should come away with victories tomorrow. If they somehow should not please feel free to forward your hate emails to my cat Mr. Pickles. If they should win, Mr. Pickles accepts cash or credit card or gift cards to Starbucks.

5. Iowa ST Over Iowa

.
James Snook- USA TODAY Sports

I was surprised to see Iowa ST as +1.5 at home against Iowa. Yes, Iowa ST embarrassingly lost at home to Northern Iowa but they have had two weeks now to prepare for an Iowa team that has now lost as home to Northern Illinois and struggled at home against Missouri St. Iowa ST should pull off the upset here.

4. UCLA Over Nebraska

Again based off small sample size, Nebraska's defense looks weak. Against a UCLA team that can put up serious points, that is going to be quite a challenge. At 4.5 point underdogs, you really have to love the value of getting a 17th ranked team in the country against a team that has been a little shaky at home.

3. Wisconsin Over Arizona ST

.
Jeff Hanisch- USA TODAY Sports

Wisconsin is as solid a program as you are going to find in the NCAA's and while Arizona ST. is working hard to reach that level, you have to go with the solidity of the Badgers until someone like Arizona ST. can knock them off. 5.5 point underdogs seems excessive as I think Wisconsin comes out the winner of a close game.

2. UCF Over Penn ST

.
Robert Mayer- USA TODAY Sports

Penn ST has declared a whiteout for their student section a move that is not done very often and for good reason, they are facing one hell of a team. Yes, UCF hasn't had to face a quality opponent yet but when you outscore your two opponents 76-7 that command respect regardless of who they are. UCF has been an extremely solid program and are on the brink of a top-25 appearance. Tomorrow may get them over that brink.

1. East Carolina Over Virginia Tech

.
James Guillory- USA TODAY Sports

East Carolina is +8.5 at home against a Virginia Tech squad with far more recruited players so why would I ever pick East Carolina to win? Well for starters, this is a huge letdown game for Virginia Tech coming off their loss to Alabama while it is one of the bigger home games East Carolina has had. Not to mention East Carolina is a solid program looking for the big springboard win and it all adds up to a potential shocker.
