Johnny Manziel Can Achieve Legendary Status With Win Over Alabama
College football is followed by many fans all over the country, from university to university in every state. Each Saturday, thousands of fans fill stadiums, crowd living rooms, or head to a bar to cheer on their favorite teams and players with their friends.
Each and every year, stars emerge from the bottom of depth charts and make a name for themselves. They rise up to the challenge and put on a show every Saturday for the four short years of their career.
Some of the stars, through reasons such as their playing skills plus their personalities, achieve a legendary status and are remembered by fans for years after their playing days have ended.
Last season in College Station, redshirt freshman quarterback Johnny Manziel became a star. He showed up, virtually out of nowhere, dominated his competition, and won a Heisman trophy. His offseason was filled with antics, both good and bad, and he is the talk of college football.
In Saturday’s game against top ranked Alabama, Manziel has a chance to reach the legendary status that only so many college football players have reached. The best way to become a legend is to defeat a legend, and in this case, the legend is Nick Saban.
Manziel and the Texas A&M Aggies were able to knock off top-ranked Alabama in Tuscaloosa last season, which is nearly impossible. This season, following the Tide’s national championship and Manziel’s Heisman, the teams are meeting up again in a top 10 matchup that is one of the most anticipated games in recent memory.
Say what you will about Manziel, but there is no denying his football abilities and his celebrity status. He carries the amount of attention someone like Tim Tebow carried, which very rarely happens. Knocking off Saban and the Tide two years in a row would put a bow on an already stellar career for Manziel.
Games like the one in College Station on Saturday don’t come around very often, featuring such high profile personalities and high quality football teams. Sit back and enjoy the Johnny Manziel show.
