Pac 12 Reprimands Officials Who Botched Ending of Wisconsin/ASU; Sorry Doesn’t Pay the Bills

Wisconsin-ASU

I’ve been watching sports my entire life. Each week I usually get to see something I’ve never seen before, but in a good way. The ending to the Wisconsin/Arizona State game this past Saturday was something I never seen before, in the absolute worst way possible. If you haven’t seen this ridiculous ending yet, take a look and get up to speed:

That’s what I like to call a good old fashioned screw job.

First off all, the ASU players who jumped on the dead ball should have been flagged for a delay of game penalty. Secondly, the umpire who wouldn’t let Joel Stave snap the ball, is a moron. With the game winding down, there’s no reason for an official to hold a team back like that. That umpire displayed a total lack of awareness.

I don’t think this has anything to with the fact that it was a Pac 12 crew. The Sun Devils didn’t get an assist and I’m not calling this a conspiracy. These officials are just clearly bad at their jobs. It’s one thing to miss the obvious delay of game penalty, it’s another to not allow Wisconsin to hurry up, but to not even consider reviewing the play or even attempt to make it right – is simply unacceptable.

Pac 12 officials released a statement on Monday saying that they will take “additional sanctions against officials” for failing to “properly administer the end of game situation and act with appropriate urgency on the game’s final play.”

Oh, well I guess that makes it all better. Give me a break.
