Miami vs. South Florida: Game Preview With TV Schedule
Entering the 2013 season, no one was talking about the Miami Hurricanes as serious contenders in the ACC. All the talk was about the Florida State Seminoles and Clemson Tigers, but the Hurricanes have changed that just four weeks into the season. This team has become a force and proved to be after a win against in-state foe, Florida.
On the other side of the field, the South Florida Bulls have been extremely disappointing so far in 2013. Sitting at 0-3 with no end to the downfall in sight, the Bulls have been blown out in each game this season and it’s not looking good as they host one of the best teams in college football at home.
Duke Johnson is the kind of guy that can change the game in an instant. He has the big-play capability that teams strive for and he is in the discussion for best running back in the nation. Johnson has 304 yards and three scores through three games this season — including a week four game in which he only had eight carries for 59 yards. At quarterback, Stephen Morris has been a bit underproductive this season with just 404 yards and four touchdowns.
South Florida’s offense has been downright awful this season. With no quarterback completing over 50 percent of their passes and Bobby Eveld leading the team in passing with just 202 yards and two scores, the Bulls have the 116th ranked passing offense in college football. The run game isn’t much better, ranked 92nd, but Marcus Shaw has been the lone offensive bright spot with 398 rushing yards and one score. However, they rank 121st in the nation with just 12.3 points per game.
Defensively, the South Florida Bulls have been poor this season. Allowing 34 points per game puts them near the bottom of college football and they haven’t come within 14 points of a team yet. Miami has allowed over 250 yards just once this season and it was to the Florida Gators. However, they do allow just under 10 points per game — one of the best marks in the nation.
Miami will travel to South Florida to take on the Bulls at 12 p.m. EST on Saturday, Sept. 28. The game will be aired on ESPNU.
PREDICTION: Miami 38, South Florida 10
