Every year, there are a list of games in which the top-ranked teams must be careful not to fall into a trap. On Saturday, Clemson made sure they didn’t fall into the trap against Wake Forest. Clemson came out with a fury as they cruised to a 56-7 victory.

Clemson, the No. 3 ranked team in the nation, put themselves in the BCS Title conversation when they knocked off No. 5 Georgia the first week of the season. Clemson will need to avoid the pitfall games before playing Florida State on Oct. 19.

Quarterback Tajh Boyd may have put himself in the Heisman discussion as well — at least, even more so than before. Boyd finished with 311 passing yards and 69 more on the ground. He also accounted for four of the Clemson touchdowns. On the season, he has a completion percentage of 62.2. Perhaps the most impressive number on the season, though, is that he has no interceptions in 90 passing attempts.

Clemson has two more games before they face the Seminoles. If Clemson wants to be taken serious in the BCS Title conversation, they need to do what they can to make sure they win in dominating fashion each week as they did against Wake Forrest. If they continue to dominate and continue to win big, people all over the country will start to notice more and more. Beating Georgia in week one is nice, but beating Georgia, Florida State and South Carolina is really good. If they play like the did against Wake Forrest, they should have no problem handling the rest of their schedule. If they can do that, look for Clemson to be playing in the Title game in January.
