Venric Mark’s Return A Major Boost For Northwestern
The Northwestern Wildcat football team received outstanding news today when it was announced All-American running back and return specialist Venric Mark will return from injury and play this Saturday in their primetime matchup vs. Ohio State.
Mark had previously missed the last three games of this season with a leg injury, which he sustained in preseason camp. He played sparingly in their season opener versus Cal but has been sidelined ever since trying to return to full health.
For Northwestern, there is no better time for Mark to return than for this game, which is one of the biggest games in the history of the Wildcat football program. The Wildcats are currently ranked No. 16 in the country while Ohio State is No. 4.
The game will be played under the lights and the atmosphere will be crazy as the Wildcats look to prove they are for real this season.
The interesting thing to watch for is how explosive Mark can be when he gets the ball. In 2012, he was one of the most dynamic players in all of college football as a running back and returning both punts and kicks. He carried the ball 226 times for 1,366 yards and 12 touchdowns while also returning punts on the way to being an All-American.
They will need all of that and more as Ohio State is one of the toughest teams in the country and also got the return of their star offensive player last weekend when Braxton Miller came back from injury. He looked better than ever in a dominant performance against Wisconsin, so the Wildcats will have their hands full.
