The ACC is no longer a basketball-only conference.

Both Tajh Boyd and Jameis Winston have excelled in 2013, but only one of them has the chance of rattling off an undefeated season this year. As a senior, Boyd has been a driving force for the Clemson Tigers, while Winston has managed to enter the 2013 Heisman Trophy conversation as a redshirt freshman. The classic debate of senior leadership — Boyd — versus the new and shiny — Winston — is starting to gain some speed after both had historic Saturday afternoons.

Winston really set the tone for the Florida State Seminoles as they smashed the Maryland Terrapins to the tune of 63-0 to cap off Week 6. The Seminoles’ signal-caller threw for five touchdowns and 393 yards in just over three quarters of play. Meanwhile, Boyd also dazzled with over 350 pass yards and four pass touchdowns in just the first half of Clemson’s game versus the Syracuse Orange.

With both of these ACC quarterbacks slinging it, the ultimate question is when will we see both Heisman Trophy hopefuls go head-to-head? The answer is October 19, as in Week 8.

Any college football fan worth his salts has this game circled on their calendar, considering it’s going to be the best ACC game of the year. Stay tuned to see if Winston’s already enormous legacy grows, or if the veteran Boyd sends the inexperienced Winston back to Florida with a loss.
