Swine Devine: South Carolina vs Arkansas Game Preview

Things just haven’t gone the  way of the Hog the last three weeks. Blame it on Twitter, #karma or any number of things, but things have not run as smoothly as the Razorback faithful or Brett Bielema had envisioned.

To the delight of the Wisconsin Twitter Nation, the Arkansas Razorbacks are poised to give Bielema the only four game losing streak in his tenure as a head coach, courtesy of the old ball coach and South Carolina. The Razorbacks are limping into Saturday’s matchup losing starting corner Will Hines to a broken arm in the bacon frying last week in the swamp at Florida. Matters keep getting worse, as the Razorbacks can’t seem to find the end zone while their opponents seem to have summer homes there as of late.

The old ball coach Steve Spurrier is working on an entirely different set of problems. Much heralded defensive end and projected number selection in this year’s NFL Draft Jadeveon Clowney is still a bit of an unknown. South Carolina defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward told reporters that Clowney will start Saturday, however, quickly clarifying himself to include the, “if he (Clowney) is healthy,” disclaimer to avoid the circus of last week.

The internal issues percolating in the South Carolina program could cause super fan Darius Rucker to remake his Comeback song if the games don’t start coming with a little less drama for the Gamecocks, who still have SEC and BCS Titles in their field of vision.

Spurrier is a wily veteran and the juicy bacon on the plate that Arkansas is serving up Saturday in Clinton country are just what a hungry and annoyed bunch of roosters need to get the chicken coop straightened out. Look for Connor Shaw and the Game Cock offense to exploit a battered and makeshift Arkansas defense Saturday and roll up enough points for a double digit victory.

The result of this one will give Bielema the only four game losing streak of his career, but that won’t last long. The deep fried hogs roll into elephant country next week, and will face Nick Saban and the top ranked Alabama Crimson Tide. Can you say out of the frying pan and into the fire?
