Buffalo Bulls Playing With Confidence During Four-Game Winning Streak
Buffalo Bulls head coach Jeff Quinn has to like the way his team has responded from their 0-2 start. The team is starting to gel both offensively and defensively and has reeled off four straight victories. The Bulls are undefeated in the conference (2-0) and have their sight set on Detroit in December.
However, in order to keep the momentum going, the team cannot afford to slip up this week with the UMASS Minutemen (1-5) coming to town.
UMASS will be emotionally ready for the game this weekend as they are coming off their first victory of the season over the winless Miami (OH) RedHawks (0-6). The Minutemen are 1-1 in the MAC and have a new-found start after last week’s 17-10 victory at home.
The Minutemen have struggled to score points and are ranked 126th in the nation in scoring offense (8.7 points per game). UMASS has a lot of inexperience at the skill positions, and that is the main reason why they are ranked 12th in the conference in total offense (281.7 total yards per game).
The strength of the Bulls has been the solid play of the defense. The Bulls are very opportunistic and have been able to force turnovers this year. They are a +10 in turnover margin and have been very good at generating a pass rush. On the season, the Bulls have 21 sacks through six games (3.5 sacks per game). Senior defensive lineman Colby Way and senior linebacker Khalil Mack lead the team with five sacks each.
Offensively, the Bulls are averaging 202.3 passing yards per game and 160 rushing yards per game. They are ranked 70th in the nation, averaging 29.2 points per game.
