Rant Sports' Official College Football Top 25: Week 9

college football
Scott Olmos-USA TODAY Sports

Week eight of the college football season has come and passed and the week nine resulted in a major shake up of the top-25 rankings. If you like upsets and underdogs, this was your week to watch college football. Some top teams in the nation dropped considerably in the rankings while other teams dropped out.

The week started with a close game between the Miami Hurricanes and the North Carolina Tar Heels on Thursday in which the Hurricanes overcame an upset bid on the road to claim victory. That's where the madness began for week nine.

Just a day later, the Louisville Cardinals fell victim to the upset bug as the Central Florida Knights took them down at home for their first loss of the season on a schedule that looked to be as favorable as any in the nation. The next day, Saturday, was the biggest day of the season for upsets as eight top-25 teams fell as four dropped to unranked teams.

The Georgia Bulldogs' string of bad luck has continued this week as they fell for the second-straight week, but this time on the road against the Vanderbilt Commodores. They weren't the only ranked SEC team to drop on the road to an unranked team as the South Carolina Gamecocks lost a close one to the Tennessee Volunteers.

As one of the most exciting weeks of college football of the 2013 season, week eight did not disappoint anyone, but week nine features more top games and the possibility of more ranked teams losing.

Check out our board of experts' top-25 rankings for week nine.
