The Ohio Bobcats are coming off an impressive home victory over the Eastern Michigan Eagles last Saturday. The Bobcats scored 35 second half points en route to the 56-28 victory over the Eagles. Ohio is 5-2 on the season and 2-1 within the MAC. The team has a perfect opportunity to pick up another conference win this weekend when the winless Miami (OH) RedHawks (0-7) come to town.
The Bobcats were able to generate 547 total yards of offense in last week’s win with 399 passing yards and 148 rushing yards on the Eagles defense. On the season, the team is averaging 32.6 points per game. The Bobcats have been able to beat teams with their vertical passing attack as the team is averaging 270.7 passing yards per game (37th in the nation).
However, Ohio must try and be more consistent in the running game. The Bobcats are averaging 142.4 rushing yards per game and are ranked 90th in the nation. They will need to rush the football on a Miami (OH) defense that is yielding 215.8 rushing yards per game and allowing 31.3 points per game.
Defensively, the Bobcats are allowing 22.6 points per game and have 21 sacks through seven games this season. The Bobcats are allowing 164.7 rushing yards per game and 229.6 passing yards per contest. Ohio must force Miami (OH) into throwing the football on Saturday.
The RedHawks have struggled all season in the vertical passing game and are averaging 133.3 passing yards per game (116th in the nation). The team has allowed 24 sacks through seven games been inconsistent on the offensive line. The RedHawks are ranked 125th in the nation in scoring offense averaging 10.1 points per game. Miami (OH) is averaging 93.1 rushing yards per game and has had problems converting on third downs (19-of-93).
