Florida State Seminoles Cruise to Victory Over NC State Wolfpack, Remain Undefeated

By Colby Lanham

Florida State is coming off of an emotionally high win against Clemson last week, as they established their BCS presence against the Tigers in Death Valley.

Their emotions have gotten even higher as they easily took care of business back home in Tallahassee with a 49-17 victory over the NC State Woflpack to remain undefeated.

Jameis Winston continued his ascension as a college quarterback, completing 16 of 26 passes for 292 yards to go along with three touchdowns and an interception. The redshirt freshman proved his worth by winning handily in a harsh environment against a good Clemson team, and their victory will continue to keep their National Championship hopes alive.

Devonta Freeman accumulated 92 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the absence of James Wilder, Jr., while Karlos Williams added 86 extra yards and a touchdown on the ground. The Seminoles ruled the day through the air with 342 passing yards, with Rashad Greene once again the star of the receiving corps with 137 yards and a touchdown, while Kelvin Benjamin slowly becomes a dominant threat with 69 receiving yards and a touchdown. Tight end Nick O’Leary continued his redzone dominance with a 14-yard touchdown reception.

Meanwhile, the Seminoles’ defense forced three NC State turnovers and held the wandering Wolfpack to just 316 yards on offense, with 128 passing yards and 188 rushing yards. While the defense played well overall, Wolfpack running back Shadrach Thorton rushed for 172 yards and two touchdowns, but it wasn’t quite enough to overwhelm the No. ranked Seminoles, who will have their next big test when they host the Miami Hurricanes on Tallahassee soil.
