Toledo Rockets Look To Continue Momentum This Week vs. Eastern Michigan Eagles
The Toledo Rockets will look to extend their three game winning streak this week when the team squares off against the 1-7 Eastern Michigan Eagles on Saturday. The Rockets were able to pull off the upset against the Bowling Green Falcons last week and seem to have found their rhythm on offense. Toledo has an opportunity to make a run at the division title, but in order to be in contention the Rockets must be focused and disciplined against Eastern Michigan.
The Rockets were able to rip the Bowling Green defense for 242 rushing yards en route to the 28-25 victory. Freshman Kareem Hunt exploded for 114 on 21 carries and one touchdown filling in for starter David Fluellen who was battling a back injury. Fluellen managed 61 yards on three carries in limited action.
In order to get the victory on Saturday, the Rockets will look to exploit an Eagles’ defense that is surrendering 256.3 rushing yards per game. The Eagles are ranked 124th in the nation in scoring defense allowing 44.4 points per game.
Toledo is averaging 183.1 passing yards per game (104th in the nation) and is averaging 227 rushing yards per game (18th in the nation). The Rockets are averaging 30.5 points per game and are ranked 62nd in the nation in scoring offense. In the Rockets’ three straight victories over Western Michigan, Navy and Bowling Green, the team has averaged 40 points per game and averaged 442 total yards per game.
Defensively, the Rockets will look to shut down an Eagles offense that is struggling scoring points. The Eagles are ranked 111th in the nation in scoring offense averaging 19.8 points per game. Eastern Michigan is averaging 202.4 passing yards per game (91st in the nation) and averaging 161.6 rushing yards per game (69th in the nation).
