ACC Previews and Predictions for Week 10
ACC Previews and Predictions: Week 10
Week nine of the ACC college football season is now in the books and week 10 features one game that will be on everyone's radar in primetime. Four ranked teams took the field last week as members of the ACC, taking on fellow conference foes and half of the games were quite exciting.
The Duke Blue Devils travel to take on the 14th-ranked Virginia Tech Hokies and no one thought the game would be very close -- but it was. Duke played the Hokies tough throughout and the game went down to the wire just to see Virginia Tech lose at home in embarrassing fashion. While the Hokies were ranked in the Top 15, they dropped out of the polls completely for week 10.
The other close game featured the Miami Hurricanes and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Miami was the home team and you could barely tell as the Demon Deacons put up a solid fight just to lose at the end, 24-21.The Hurricanes didn't move in the rankings from their seventh-ranked spot after the win just because it was such a tight game. Miami will travel to take on the Florida State Seminoles in probably the second-biggest ACC game of the season. The in-state foes will duke it out for the best team in the state award.
It wasn't close for the Seminoles as they stomped on the North Carolina State Wolfpack at home on Bobby Bowden day and same with the Clemson Tigers who walked all over the Maryland Terrapins on the road.
Standings in the ACC are starting to take season-ending shape as just two teams are left unbeaten in week 10 as the Seminoles and Hurricanes will play to see who will be the lone undefeated team through 10 weeks.
Take a look at the ACC previews and predictions for each week 10 game.
Virginia Tech at Boston College
Don't expect Logan Thomas to let the Hokies lose to their second-straight lesser opponent. Virginia Tech will win an ugly one on the road.
PREDICTION: Virginia Tech 20, Boston College 17
North Carolina at North Carolina State
It's been too long of a struggle for Bryn Renner and North Carolina. It might take a rivalry game to wake him up and beat the Wolf Pack. North Carolina will show some offensive prowess in this one.
PREDICTION: North Carolina 31, NC State 24
Wake Forest at Syracuse
Wake Forest will need to play just like they did a week ago to take down Syracuse on the road -- and they will. The Demon Deacons will improve to 5-4 on the year and head one step closer to a bowl bid after taking down a struggling Syracuse squad.
PREDICTION: Wake Forest 21, Syracuse 20
No. 8 Clemson at Virginia
This one will be no contest as Tajh Boyd will look to take the Clemson Tigers to a BCS bowl this season. An ACC title might be out of the question for the one-loss team, but winning this game against the 2-6 Cavaliers will be no contest.
PREDICTION: Clemson 37, Virginia 16
Pittsburgh at Georgia Tech
This game will decide if Georgia Tech can stay in the hunt for a conference title as they are just two game out of first in the ACC Coastal division. The Yellow Jackets' run game will be too much for the mediocre Panthers' defense to stop.
PREDICTION: Pittsburgh 14, Georgia Tech 28
No. 7 Miami at No. 3 Florida State
The Miami Hurricanes and Florida State Seminoles are both unbeaten this season and it will be a huge battle in Tallahassee on Saturday evening. However, Jameis Winson will treat the Hurricanes like just another opponent and plow through Miami like they do with everyone else.
PREDICTION: Miami 24, Florida State 34
