Texas A&M vs. UTEP: Game Preview With TV Schedule
It looks like the Texas A&M Aggies are going to be a sneaky team in the SEC this season after losing two games already. What do I mean by this? Well, the Aggies will likely be a team that will make a late season push at a division title, but it looks like they won’t have a chance with the best team in the nation in their SEC West division.
On the other side of the field, the UTEP Miners have struggled mightily this season as a member of Conference-USA. Sitting at just 1-6 with five straight losses, the Miners look like a team that has no fight left in them after three close games this season that resulted in losses of seven points or less.
Texas A&M has the reigning Heisman winner leading the offense as Johnny Manziel is fighting off critics while making a strong push toward a BCS bowl bid. He has made a strong effort to lead his team to victory this season, passing for 2,594 yards and 22 touchdowns while rushing for 497 yards and another six touchdowns on the ground for the fourth-best scoring offense in the nation. Mike Evans seems to be a stud at wide receiver for the Aggies as he has been a main reason for Manziel’s continued success. He has 48 catches for 1,101 yards and 11 touchdowns this season with four regular season games left — scary.
The Miners are not having success through the air this season as quarterback Jameill Showers has led the 94th-ranked pass offense to just one win this season. Showers has 1,263 yards and 11 touchdowns for the offense but he can attribute a lot of his success to wide out Jordan Leslie. He has 28 catches on the season for 489 yards and five scores — all team-highs. However, the real star of the offense has been running back Aaron Jones who has 743 yards and three touchdowns on the season for the 27th-ranked run offense.
Defensively, the Miners have struggled to keep anyone out of the endzone, allowing nearly 40 points per game — a mark that is good for 118th in the nation. The Miners also rank 100th in the nation in yards allowed per game. Texas A&M is not much better, ranking 97th in the nation in points allowed and 110th in yards allowed per game.
The UTEP Miners will travel to Texas A&M to take on the Aggies at 9 p.m. EST on Saturday, Nov. 2. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN 2.
PREDICTION: UTEP 10, Texas A&M 49
