Buffalo

Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

As the MAC enters the month of November, it is evident that anyone of a number of teams can be playing in the championship come December. The first nine weeks of the season were filled with great performances and surprising team efforts. Teams like Buffalo, Ball State and Northern Illinois have started to separate themselves from the field. However, as the MAC enters the final stretch run, the division titles are up for grabs and fans want to see who will make a statement to bring home the title.

Akron and Kent State will battle it out for the Wagon Wheel trophy on Saturday. Akron leads the series with a 30-23-2 mark.

Northern Illinois will look to keep their perfect record in tact when the Huskies travel to UMASS to face the 1-7 Minutemen.

Toledo has an opportunity to pick up an important conference win this weekend against Eastern Michigan. The Rockets can keep pace, as they are one game behind division leaders Northern Illinois and Ball State.

Even though the schedule is limited this weekend, fans will be treated to great football action in the conference. Northern Illinois continues to make a push toward a top 15 ranking, as the Huskies have one of the most potent rushing attacks in the nation. Northern Illinois is ranked 6th  in the country, averaging 307.5 rushing yards per game, and they have an experienced offensive line that is playing very well entering the final month of the season.

Here are the predictions for week 10 of the MAC:

Northern Illinois is on a roll and will be looking to dispose of the Minutemen quickly on the road. Quarterback Jordan Lynch leads the 6th ranked rushing offense in the nation against a UMASS defense yielding 227.1 rushing yards per game.

Northern Illinois-38   UMASS-21

The Zips have the better passing attack and are playing at home. Look for the Zips to bring the Wagon Wheel Trophy back to their campus.

Akron-31 Kent State-24

The Rockets have averaged 40 points per game during their recent three game winning streak. Look for the trend to continue this week against an Eagles defense surrendering 44.4 points per game.

Toledo-41  Eastern Michigan-16
