Big Ten Previews and Predictions: Week 11

big ten
Mike Carter-USA TODAY Sports

After a relatively quiet week 10 of the college football season, the Big Ten dropped one team from the Top 25 rankings, leaving them with just three overall in the rankings. While this may seem like a down year for the conference, it is because ever team seems to be beating up on each other. No one team, besides maybe the Ohio State Buckeyes, has stood out tremendously.

Ohio State took on the Purdue Boilermakers a week ago and it wasn't very pretty. The Buckeyes beat the Boilermakers by 50-plus points and the win signaled just how much more superior the Buckeyes are than the Boilermakers -- and basically the rest of the Leaders Division.

If the Buckeyes are the one team that has stood out, who else has been a top team in the conference? Well, the Michigan State Spartans took it to in-state rival, the Michigan Wolverines, by a 29-6 margin. It was an ugly game early on and it looked like neither team wanted to pull away in the first half. However, a late first half touchdown for the Spartans was the winning score and they never looked back. This win proved just how talented the Spartans' defense really is and they are the favorite to head to the Big Ten title game.

The other top team in the Big Ten looks to be the Wisconsin Badgers. Wisconsin took down the Iowa Hawkeyes on the road a week ago, holding the solid rushing team to just nine points. It looks like the rushing attack from the Badgers could be the best in the Big Ten and one of the top attacks in the nation. Melvin Gordon could be a legitimate Heisman contender.

While last week didn't feature many top games, neither does week 11. The Nebraska Cornhuskers will host Michigan in the only meaningful matchup of the week.

Take a look at each game's preview and prediction.

It has yet to be seen if the Minnesota Golden Gophers are a legitimate contender. However, they will be tested this week against a somewhat unpredictable Penn State squad at home. A win will put them on track to contend for a Big Ten title game appearance.

PREDICTION: Penn State 21, Minnesota 28

Iowa is coming off a tough loss at home against Wisconsin and they will get a nice break in the reeling Purdue Boilermakers. Watch out for the Iowa run game to break out in this one.

PREDICTION: Iowa 30, Purdue 13

Indiana has a scary offense and the Fighting Illini are reeling. What does that mean? Well, it's a recipe for disaster.

Nebraska at Michigan

Michigan needs a win to stay alive in the Big Ten race. Nebraska can't afford to lose another conference game. The Wolverines will have the home field advantage and I wouldn't want to be any team that has to face a Michigan team coming off an embarrassing loss to a huge rival.

PREDICTION: Nebraska 27, Michigan 38

BYU at No. 24 Wisconsin

Reese Strickland-USA TODAY Sports

Wisconsin will have to have a tough BYU team in week 11, but the Badgers' run game will be far too much for the Cougars to handle as Melvin Gordon and James White will run all over the Cougars.

PREDICTION: BYU 21, Wisconsin 31
