Texas A&M vs. Mississippi State: Game Preview With TV Schedule
The Texas A&M Aggies look like a team on the rise after a somewhat slow start to their conference season with a 2-2 record in the SEC in the first four conference games. Now that the Aggies are 7-2, it looks like they might be headed for a BCS bowl game yet again with one of the most electric offense in the nation.
While the Aggies have recovered from a tough start to their conference season, the Mississippi State Bulldogs are still looking to recover from their ongoing struggles in the SEC with a 1-3 record in conference play. The Bulldogs are just two wins away from bowl eligibility, but their remaining schedule is not favorable.
Texas A&M has one of the most popular and polarizing quarterbacks behind center. In case you don’t know his name, which would be ridiculous, he goes by Johnny Manziel and sometimes Johnny Football. Manziel has 2,867 yards and 26 touchdowns on the year as well as 564 yards and eight touchdowns rushing the ball — he might still be in Heisman contention. Manziel’s favorite target, Mike Evans could also be a Heisman contender with his 52 catches for 1,147 yards and 11 touchdowns.
On the other side of the field, Mississippi State ranks 33rd in the nation in rushing yards per game because of the strong production from dual-threat quarterback Dak Prescott. The quarterback has 1,393 yards and five touchdowns through the air to go along with 568 yards and 10 rushing touchdowns. It’s almost unheard of for a quarterback to have double the amount of rushing touchdowns than he does passing touchdowns. Ladarius Perkins leads the actual running backs with 368 yards and a score.
Defensively, the Aggies have one of the worst units in college football. They did, however, break the top-100 finally in yards allowed per game, but that isn’t something to be very proud of as they still rank 95th in yards and 80th in points allowed per game. Mississippi State ranks 48th in points allowed and 40th in yards allowed per game.
Mississippi State will travel to Texas A&M to take on the Aggies at 3:30 p.m. EST on Saturday, Nov. 9. The game will be broadcasted on CBS.
PREDICTION: Mississippi State 20, Texas A&M 42
