ACC Previews and Predictions for Week 12
ACC Previews and Predictions: Week 12
While the ACC isn't regarded as the top football conference out there, there are a couple teams that could contend for a national title. Okay, maybe just one right now as the Clemson Tigers have a lot to prove after getting demolished at home by the Florida State Seminoles. While it looks like the Tigers will be playing for a chance to make a BCS bowl, they still have an opportunity to prove that they are the second best team in the conference by winning the remainder of their games.
As I said earlier, the Seminoles blew out the Tigers on the road and it's looking like Florida State will be playing for a national title before we know it. Freshman quarterback Jameis Winston leads one of the most dominant offense in college football. The Seminoles seemingly can't lose and it looks like the remainder of their schedule is one of the most winnable remaining schedules in college football.
Can the Seminoles win out, win a conference title and then beat the Alabama Crimson Tide in the national title game? It remains to be seen but I'm sure everyone in the nation is hoping for a matchup between Winston and the tough Crimson Tide defense.
The third-best team in the ACC looks like the Miami Hurricanes even though they have lost two straight games and have dropped out of the Top 20 completely. It's hard to see this team struggle after losing one of the best young running backs in the nation in Duke Johnson but it just shows that the better teams are rising to the top of the conference.
Check out this week's previews and predictions for every week 12 ACC game.
Georgia Tech at No. 8 Clemson
While Georgia Tech might having a solid run game, the Tigers have a solid overall game. Don't be surprised if Tajh Boyd breaks out for a big game against the Yellow Jackets.
PREDICTION: Georgia Tech 24, Clemson 35
North Carolina State at Boston College
Andre Williams and this solid run game for Boston College will have no problem running all over the North Carolina State Wolfpack. Williams' 1,400-plus yards this season are no joke.
PREDICTION: NC State 20, Boston College 31
North Carolina at Pittsburgh
North Carolina is looking to break out and any moment now and Pittsburgh is coming off a big win against Notre Dame. This game will be in the favor of Pittsburgh because of Bryn Renner's season-ending shoulder injury.
PREDICTION: North Carolina 21, Pittsburgh 24
Maryland at Virginia Tech
Logan Thomas and Virginia Tech dominated a Miami Hurricanes squad a week ago at home and there's no reason they shouldn't do the same to a struggling Maryland team.
PREDICTION: Maryland 14, Virginia Tech 30
No. 23 Miami at Duke
Miami is coming off two consecutive losses and playing a Duke team that has been the surprise of the ACC season, but the Hurricanes will not let their streak extend to three. Stephen Morris is too experienced and talented to let that happen.
PREDICTION: Miami 27, Duke 20
Syracuse at No. 2 Florida State
It's not very kind to say, but Syracuse has no chance in this one. On the road in Tallahassee, the Orange will not be able to stop Jameis Winston from extended his Heisman campaign another week.
PREDICTION: Syracuse 10, Florida State 52
