UCF vs. Temple: Game Preview With TV Schedule
It looks like the Central Florida Knights are the best team in the American Athletic Conference in its first season as a college football conference. All signs point to them winning the conference after defeating the Louisville Cardinals about a month ago.
On the other side of things, the Temple Owls are not having what you would call a successful season. A successful season would entail a possible bowl berth, but this team is 1-8 and 0-5 in conference play — they are not one of the best teams in the AAC. Not even close.
Central Florida ranks 34th in the nation in passing yards per game behind experienced quarterback Blake Bortles who has led this team to a 7-1 start to the season. Bortles has passed for 2,080 yards and 15 touchdowns on the season while hitting his favorite target, Breshad Perriman, 27 times for 567 yards and a touchdown. Storm Johnson leads the run game with 719 yards and nine touchdowns as one of the best backs in the AAC.
Temple has a mediocre offense in both passing and rushing yards per game while have a poor, at best, scoring attack. Freshman quarterback P.J. Walker has been one of the lone bright spots on offense as he has been given the nod at starting QB and delivering to his best abilities. The young quarterback has 1,094 yards, 11 touchdowns and a 62.5 percent completion rate in five full games this season. Moving forward, he can be the key piece to a turnaround of the program.
Defensively, Central Florida ranks 12th in college football in points allowed per game to go along with 21st in the nation in yards allowed per game with just over 350. Temple ranks 84th in points allowed and 117th in yards allowed per contest with over 500.
Central Florida will travel to Temple to take on the Owls at 12 p.m. EST on Saturday, Nov. 16. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN 3.
PREDICTION: UCF 37, Temple 16
