Oklahoma vs. Kansas State: Game Preview With TV Schedule
Just one week after losing to the Baylor Bears in blowout fashion, the Oklahoma Sooners made a huge step forward, taking down the Iowa State Cyclones by 38 points. It wasn’t even close and that’s the kind of game the Sooners needed after a tough loss to Baylor, pushing their record to 8-2 on the year.
After the first six games of the season, it didn’t look like the Kansas State Wildcats had it in them to make a bowl in 2013. However, four straight wins after starting 2-4 has made for a bowl eligible team and an impressive comeback to an otherwise poor start to the season.
Oklahoma relied on Trevor Knight to begin the season as the starting quarterback, but the freshman didn’t have what it took to be an adequate passer and the Sooners wanted more than just a runner at the position. Blake Bell took over and has been solid ever since, passing for 1,508 yards and 11 touchdowns. Jalen Saunders has been the top target for both quarterbacks, catching 44 passes for 520 yards and five touchdowns. Brennan Clay leads all rushers with 643 yards and four touchdowns on 6.2 yards per carry.
Kansas State has won four straight games thanks to the solid run game and some solid defense as well. Jake Waters leads the team at quarterback this season and the junior has 1,690 yards and 10 touchdowns with six interceptions in his first year as starter. His favorite receiver has been Tyler Lockett who has been tearing it up this season with 56 catches for 825 yards and five touchdowns. The run game, like I said, has been solid as Daniel Sams leads the way with 784 yards and 11 touchdowns while John Hubert has 731 yards and eight touchdowns.
Defensively, Oklahoma ranks 19th in the nation in points allowed per game. As hard as it is to believe, the Sooners are even better when it comes to yards allowed per game, ranking 10th in the nation. On the other hand, the Wildcats rank 34th in points allowed per game as well as ranking 34th in yards allowed per game.
Oklahoma will travel to Kansas State to take on the Wildcats at 12 p.m. EST on Saturday, Nov. 23. The game will be broadcasted on FOX Sports 1.
PREDICTION: Oklahoma 27, Kansas State 24
