A week after beating the Oregon Ducks in impressive fashion, the Stanford Cardinal fell to the unpredictably-surging USC Trojans. Stanford may have lost out on a trip to the BCS title game with the loss and it looks like it might have to settle for another appearance in a Rose Bowl.

First-year head coach Sonny Dykes is not having the best go of things with the California Golden Bears. The new head coach has led his team to a mere 1-10 record through 12 weeks and it looks like the Bears will contend for the worst team in the nation with a loss in its final game of 2013.

Stanford is led by veteran quarterback Kevin Hogan who is known more for being a leader than he is for being a top passer. Hogan has passed for 1,723 yards and 13 touchdowns for the 105th-ranked passing offense in the nation, completing 45 passes to Ty Montgomery for 662 yards and five touchdowns — his favorite target. Tyler Gaffney has been solid in the run game, racking up 1,201 yards and 15 touchdowns on the season on 5.1 yards per carry.

California has a very solid passing offense for being a 1-10 team as freshman quarterback Jared Goff has a chance to be one of the best QBs in school history before it’s all said and done. Goff leads the 10th-ranked passing offense with 3,314 yards and 17 touchdowns, hitting Chris Harper 70 times for 852 yards and five touchdowns as well as hitting Bryce Treggs 76 times for 713 yards and just one score.

Defensively, the Golden Bears rank second-t0-last in points allowed per contest as well as ranking 116th in yards allowed per game with well over 500. Stanford ranks 18th in points allowed per game and also 16th in yards allowed per game with just about 345.

California will travel to Stanford to take on the Cardinal at 4 p.m. EST on Saturday, Nov. 23. The game will be broadcasted on FOX Sports 1.

PREDICTION: Cal 13, Stanford 44
