Oklahoma Sooners: Brennan Clay’s Big Game Shows Potential
The Oklahoma Sooners have a future superstar in Brennan Clay.
The running back for the Sooners rushed for 200 yards and two touchdowns in today’s game against the Kansas State Wildcats. For a running back in college football, those numbers are quite impressive. He became the first Sooners player since 2010 to rush for 200 yards in a single game. But it also helps when the offense collects over 400 yards in total offense and gets involved in a shootout. Clay managed to get the majority of all the rushing yards for the team. It raises the question on his potential in the NFL.
I could see Clay succeed in the league after his college career is over. He could be that feature back for a team looking for a fast runner who could also truck defenders to collect even more yards that could be the deciding factor of a fourth down and a first down. He also has that ability to find the hole in the line and explode, as he showed in a 64-yard touchdown run today. Watching this kid in the league would be something special and could be the piece that a franchise needs in order to make the team great for years to come.
Whether he decides to go into the Draft upcoming is going to be interesting. But if he declares for the draft, he will be a difficult option, and should not be passed up for a team looking for a power runner who has the explosive speed needed to make a big play on the ground.
