Wisconsin vs. Penn State: Game Preview With TV Schedule
Although the Wisconsin Badgers won’t be playing in their third-straight Big Ten title game, they have had a very successful season as the Big Ten’s third-best team. Although they might not be traveling to Indianapolis to play for the title in a couple weeks, a BCS bowl berth is very possible.
On the other side of the field, the Penn State Nittany Lions have captured yet another somewhat successful season after receiving a bowl ban penalty from the NCAA just a couple years ago. While they have just six wins on the year, they are over-achieving as each game goes by and they will be a force to be reckoned with in 2014.
Wisconsin has one of the most explosive running games in the nation behind their two premier running backs in Melvin Gordon and James White. Gordon has racked up 1,375 yards and 12 touchdowns while White 1,281 yards and 13 touchdowns for the eighth-ranked rushing attack in the nation that averages nearly 300 yards per game on the ground. Joel Stave leads the passing attack with 2,075 yards and 17 touchdowns through the air while connecting with Jared Abbrederis 61 times for 916 yards and seven touchdowns.
Penn State is led by a freshman quarterback and that has been a great growing process for the young gunslinger — starting in his first collegiate season. With all of the potential and talent in the world, Christian Hackenberg has passed for 2,616 yards and 16 touchdowns to go along with 10 interceptions. He has connected with top wide out Allen Robinson 89 times for 1,310 yards and six touchdowns. Zach Zwinak leads the rushing attack with 874 yards and 12 touchdowns on 4.6 yards per carry.
Defensively, Penn State ranks 65th in the nation in points allowed as well as 39th in the nation in yards allowed per contest. Wisconsin has been one of the best defensive teams in the nation, ranking fifth in the nation in points allowed and seventh in yards allowed per game.
Penn State will travel to Wisconsin to take on the Badgers at 3:30 p.m. EST on Saturday, Nov. 30. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN.
