When it comes to creating viral videos, there are certain elements which need to be included to grab multiple peoples’ attention first, and secondly, encourage them to spread the love. Someone in the Boston College Eagles athletic department certainly understands this equation, as the short, Mario Brothers-themed highlight video they have created for stud senior running back Andre Williams certainly fits the bill.

Clocking in at only 36 seconds, the video has Williams breaking tackles and embarrassing hopeless defenders set to the sound effects of everyone’s childhood favorite video game. He obviously has the invincibility star, here, as some have suggested, because he looks like a high school senior playing with 5th graders:

In all seriousness, Andre Williams is another of the 2013 Heisman Trophy candidates that is just on the fringes of a wide-open race which no longer has an obvious, clear-cut favorite. In the Age of the Internets, creating viral videos is one sure fire way to get your name out there — or in Williams’ case, the name of someone you’re looking to promote — and the Boston College athletic department deserves their own gold star for this one.

If you’re curious about why Williams matters, just take a quick second to Google his statistics so far from 2013 and you’ll see why. It’s not always the players from the first-tier programs that are actually making the biggest impact on the games in which they play and for the teams they are a part of.

Andre Williams is exactly one of these guys.
