Auburn Tigers Deserve No. 1 Overall Spot In BCS Rankings After Upset Of Alabama
The Auburn Tigers are on their way toward completing one of the most improbable seasons in college football history. After going just 3-9 last year, the Tigers have bounced back in a big way this season. Now with a signature win in the biggest game of the year against arch rival Alabama, they deserve the top spot in the BCS Rankings.
Alabama came into the Iron Bowl undefeated and seemingly on their way to a third-straight national title. Some gave the Tigers a shot to pull off the upset, not me, though. Well, they certainly proved me, and the other doubters, wrong today. They came up with big play after big play to win a game that was tense and pressure-packed from the opening kickoff to the amazing last-second play to win the game.
The No. 1 overall spot in the BCS Rankings will most likely go to Florida State after the upset of Alabama. They have a good argument for the spot, but in my mind, if you knock off the two-time defending national champion in a game that will immediately go down as one of the best rivalry games in the history of college football, you deserve the top spot.
It was an amazing game, an amazing experience just to watch it, and the Auburn Tigers have earned the respect they felt they weren’t getting coming into the matchup. With the big win, the Tigers deserve the ultimate respect: the No. 1 overall ranking in this week’s BCS Rankings.
