The No. 9 Baylor Bears desperately needed a win after falling to the No. 7 Oklahoma State Cowboys last week and losing their National Championship hopes. They may have got more than they bargained for with the TCU Horned Frogs. TCU was behind the entire game, but continued to fight back to ultimately fall 41 – 38.
The tough game against the Horned Frogs may have been just what the Bears needed going forward this season to get them back on track for a BCS appearance. The loss to Oklahoma State has obviously affected their play, but the season isn’t over. If they can beat the Texas Longhorns in their final game of the regular season, they could win the Big 12 and still go to a BCS game.
However, Texas is not the pushover team that they were earlier in the season. A miraculous turnaround has led to an 8-3 record and an upset over the Oklahoma Sooners.
Baylor is one of the most explosive offenses in the entire country, but they need to be careful because the Longhorns have stepped it up on defense in the second half of the season. Since mid-season, Texas’ defense has let only one team, Oklahoma State, score more than 20 points. Baylor has been known to let opponents score easy and often, so if the Longhorns can control Bryce Petty and Lache Seastrunk, they could give the Bears major problems.
The game against Texas is a must-win for Baylor, because if they can get a little help from Oklahoma, who face Big 12 leaders Oklahoma State, the Bears could end up winning the Big 12.
