Can the Duke Blue Devils Upset the Florida State Seminoles?
The No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide were upset by their rivals the No. 4 Auburn Tigers. Now the No. 2 Florida State Seminoles are expected to jump into the number one spot and be the favorites to not only go to the National Championship, but win it as well. However, contrary to popular belief, Florida State’s season is far from over.
The Seminoles will face the Duke Blue Devils in the ACC Championship game. Duke sealed their trip to the championship game with a 27 – 25 win over the North Carolina Tar Heels that showed how tough the Blue Devils actually were. The game was back and forth through three quarters, but the Blue Devil defense came up big in the fourth to hold onto their lead.
Duke is a lot better than people realize. After losing early in the season to the Pittsburgh Panthers and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, they’ve won 8 games in a row. On top of that, they have defeated five teams with at least a chance of going to a bowl game. Duke may have gone under the radar for the entire season, but they haven’t won most of their games against bad teams.
The Blue Devils aren’t going to wow you with stats; they don’t have a quarterback with more than 2000 yards or a running back with more than 600. However, Duke wants to win. They fight on every play and don’t give up late in games. Florida State may be the favorites to win the ACC Championship, but Duke will not go down without a major fight. The Seminoles should be very worried.
