Rant Sports Bowl Season Official College Football Top 25 Rankings
Rant Sports Bowl Season College Football Rankings
The college football regular season has finally come to an end -- even though it feels like it just started yesterday -- and the BCS and regular bowls look to be aligning perfectly. With no more games to play in the regular season, the bowl selection show is just moments away. While I could sit here and predict where each team is heading, I'd rather just give an idea of how each team's final ranking in the polls will look.
In case you missed the wild Saturday of football, a handful of conference title winners were decided -- and none of them were dull. In the SEC, the Auburn Tigers were looking to extend their good luck into a conference title and they did. Auburn took down the Missouri Tigers in a high-scoring affair that had Gus Malzahn, the first-year head coach, jumping for joy after his team won the coveted title. Auburn needed a win from the Michigan State Spartans over the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes in order to punch its ticket to a national title.
In the Big Ten title game, the Spartans did reign supreme over the Buckeyes and catapulted themselves into talks of the best teams in the country. Michigan State is headed to its first Rose Bowl since 1988 and head coach Mark Dantonio is a highly-respected man on Auburn's campus nowadays.
Although the Big 12 doesn't have a title game, four of the conference's top teams squared off on Saturday afternoon as the Oklahoma Sooners took down the Oklahoma State Cowboys on the road in upset fashion, helping the Baylor Bears win the Big 12 title for the first time in school history.
Finally, the ACC title game was an extremely predictable one as no one gave the Duke Blue Devils a shot to beat the Florida State Seminoles. The No. 1 Seminoles and No. 20 Blue Devils played a close game for one half before Florida State ran away in the second half and punched its ticket to the national title game.
