5 College Football Bowl Games That No One Cares About
5 Worst Games of the 2013-14 College Football Bowl Season
If you’re a moron, then you probably advocate the college football bowl expansion. There are currently 35 postseason games in college football, but that term is used very loosely because half the teams playing shouldn’t be babied with the participation ribbon philosophy that is the bowl system. There are so many teams and so many games that many of them don’t get watched and frankly, nobody cares about them. I mean really, two .500 teams squaring off in a bowl that has a name longer than Georgia State’s (0-12) losing streak is not something to write home about and the only people who might possibly care about such a game is the parents of the players involved. And even then, it might just be the parents of the seniors who aren’t going pro.
So just in case you might stumble onto one of these sorry excuses for a football game this bowl season, we’ve taken the liberty to find the bottom of the barrel when it comes to bowl games to ensure that everyone knows our discontent with the plethora of pathetic matchups on the schedule this year. Here are the five worst bowl games of the 2013-14 college football season.
New Orleans Bowl: Tulane vs. LA-Lafayette
At least someone put these two average-at-best Louisiana teams in the New Orleans Bowl so they don’t get in anyone else’s way…or on anyone else’s TV.
Idaho Potato Bowl: Buffalo vs. San Diego State
Buffalo is pretty bad this year and San Diego State is extremely overrated, so these two barely-above-.500 teams will duke it out in a pillow fight that might be viewed by six people.
New Mexico Bowl: Washington State vs. Colorado State
So much for the Cougars’ upset of USC; Washington State has been trashed by the likes of Southern Utah (48-10) and Idaho (42-0) since then. Doesn’t that make you want to watch the Cougars play against a 7-6 Colorado State team that lost to Tulsa this year? Didn’t think so.
Military Bowl: Marshall vs. Maryland
This might be the softest matchup of the whole bunch. The Herd is a far cry from a “Thundering” team and the Terps fell from the top 25 rankings harder than an empty turtle shell and have hit rock bottom since.
Liberty Bowl: Rice vs. Mississippi State
The Bulldogs’ only losses have come against legit top 25 ranked teams this year. Too bad they won’t get a good fight in the Liberty Bowl; Mississippi State will be up by 50 at the half against Rice. Booooorrrrrring.
