Texas A&M vs. Duke: 2013 Chick-fil-A Bowl Game Preview With TV Schedule

Texas A&M

Peter G. Aiken-USA TODAY Sports

Finishing the 2013 regular season on two consecutive losses to ranked teams, the Texas A&M Aggies are looking to take out their frustration in the 2013 Chick-fil-A Bowl. While the season was somewhat of a disappointment for this SEC squad, they can make a statement with a big bowl win.

On the other side of the field, the Duke Blue Devils have been one of the nation’s most surprising teams. Not many people would have thought this team would made a strong push toward a conference title by making it to the ACC title game before losing to the Florida State Seminoles.

Texas A&M has been pretty lucky for the past couple of seasons by having one of the best quarterbacks in the nation. Johnny Manziel is nicknamed Johnny Football for a reason as he is the reigning Heisman winner and a contender to win his second straight. He has passed for 3,732 yards and 37 touchdowns on the season and has been helped out majorly by the strong play of wide out Mike Evans who has accounted for 1,322 yards and 12 touchdowns of his own. Manziel also leads the run game with 686 yards and eight touchdowns.

Duke has played with a dual-quarterback system for most of the season and Anthony Boone looks to be the best passer of the two, passing for 1,833 yards and 10 touchdowns. Brandon Connette is the running quarterback who has accounted for 1,212 yards and 13 touchdowns while rushing for another 333 yards and 13 touchdowns. Jamison Crowder has been the favorite weapon of both quarterbacks as the wide out has caught 96 passes for 1,197 yards and seven touchdowns.

Defensively, Texas A&M has been one of the worst units in the nation this season. The Aggies rank 89th in the nation in points against and 103rd in yards allowed per game. Duke ranks 47th in the nation in points allowed as well as 83rd in yards allowed.

Duke and Texas A&M will face off in the Chick-fil-A Bowl in Atlanta, Ga., at 8 p.m. EST on Tuesday, Dec. 31. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN.

PREDICTION: Texas A&M 41, Duke 20
