The college football world finally knows where the four-star receiver out of West Palm Beach, FL will be headed to play college football.

Johnnie Dixon announced his decision on Tuesday afternoon. He has decided to play college football with the Ohio State Buckeyes and coach Urban Meyer. This is the second top recruit who has picked the Buckeyes in just the past two days. Five-star linebacker Raekwon McMillan out of Hinesville, GA decided that he will be spending his college career with the Buckeyes as well. Dixon chose Ohio State over the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Miami Hurricanes, while McMillan chose the Buckeyes over the Georgia Bulldogs, Clemson Tigers and Alabama. There must be something about those Buckeyes. Is it Meyer?

Meyer is on a roll on the recruiting trail and is likely one of the reasons why a receiver like Dixon chose Ohio State. Regarding Meyer and Ohio State, Dixon said, “They throw the ball, they put it in the playmakers’ hands and coach Meyer knows what to do with his receivers.” Meyer had recently visited Dixon in an in-home visit, but what likely had the biggest impression on Dixon was his official visit to Ohio State on Sept. 28. The Buckeyes’ 31-24 win over the Wisconsin Badgers included a pregame speech from NBA star LeBron James. Other factors that contributed to Dixon’s decision were the Ohio climate and the fact that he realized he didn’t want to be home anymore. When asked about the Ohio weather, he said, “If you play in the NFL, you will have to play in the cold weather.” Good point.

The addition of Dixon to Meyer’s recruiting class adds even more strength to an already great Ohio State recruiting class that is one of the top in the country. Meyer believes that momentum plays a large part in his recruiting success, which means that Ohio State could be close to getting yet another huge verbal commitment.
