The Louisville Cardinals have enjoyed the services of quarterback Teddy Bridgewater over the last three seasons as he has developed into the premier quarterback prospect in the country. His final game with the Cardinals could come in the Russell Athletic Bowl against the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday night where Bridgewater was dealing against the Canes’ defense. If Bridgewater does indeed leave for the NFL after this season, he made sure to make his mark on the Louisville record books during the bowl game.

In the third quarter, Bridgewater dropped off a screen pass to Senorise Perry on third down and he ran 24 yards for the third passing touchdown of the day for the Cardinals’ QB. That throw gave Bridgewater touchdown pass number 31 on the season, setting the single-season record for the Cardinals, breaking Brian Brohm‘s record of 30 touchdown passes set back in 2007. Bridgewater sits at 72 career touchdowns with Louisville, 12 shy of the all-time record set by Chris Redman who threw 84 between 1996-99.

If Bridgewater shocks the world and returns to Louisville for his senior season, he’ll undoubtedly shatter that all-time record as well. But if this is it for the talented junior, Bridgewater is going to be assured of his place in Louisville history thanks to the single-season mark he set against his home-town Miami team. While there wasn’t likely to be anyone forgetting what Bridgewater did at Louisville over the last three seasons, he made sure his name would be etched into the record books when he left.

It has been a phenomenal collegiate career for Teddy Bridgewater that fittingly included his name in the record books for the Cardinals. If he is done with Louisville after the Russell Athletic Bowl, he can feel good about what he has accomplished and head on to the next challenge of the NFL with no regrets.
