It’s happening again. Lane Kiffin‘s name is beginning to surface as the offseason has just begun in college football. Out of all the programs that Kiffin’s name can be mentioned with, it is the Alabama Crimson Tide that are the latest team to possibly take a risk on the sometimes incompetent former head coach.
After offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier left the program for the Michigan Wolverines, Alabama was left searching for answers. Who could the school hire to replace one of the top coordinators in college football?
Well, the next option seems to be Kiffin as the former head coach has been rumored to be in talks with Alabama as the school’s next offensive coordinator.
Sure, losing an offensive coordinator to a program that hasn’t had the same success lately as Alabama has hurt the Tide a bit, but even mentioning Kiffin as an option to take over the prestigious job has to hurt even worse for people who are close to the program.
Losing his job because he had little to no control over his team and for the simple fact that he was just not the best coach for the USC Trojans job made it seem like he just wasn’t cut out for a career in coaching. However, the Tide think that he has a solid offensive mind — which he somewhat does — and are willing to take a chance.
If Alabama is smart, they will stay away from this prima donna coach and find someone more qualified to handle an offense — or even more qualified to garner respect.
There is no way Kiffin and Nick Saban would ever get along.
