Nebraska has a tough slate in front of itself this season, in large part thanks to some hefty tasks on the road and a non-conference contest against a Miami (FL) team that is beginning to rise. The Cornhuskers will be competing for a Big 10 championship this season; here are five games you can't afford to miss on that journey.
Minnesota is quietly going to be a good team this season. Though QB Philip Nelson has transferred, that leaves a talented option in Mitch Leidner. I like where this Gophers team is heading. Last season's matchup resulted in a 34-23 Minnesota win.
I'm really looking forward to this non-conference showdown. These two teams last met in Miami's championship season of 2001; the series is currently knotted up at five wins a piece.
This is going to be an extremely tough game for Nebraska. Michigan State has one of the most talented and physical defensive units in the country, and the Cornhuskers don't have much returning experience on offense. This will likely have to be Ameer Abdullah's biggest game of the season if Nebraska wants a crack at this one.
This will be Nebraska's first meeting with Wisconsin since the beat-down of a lifetime suffered in the Big Ten Championship in 2012. A lot has changed since then, but both teams remain in similar positions. It will be an unbelievable battle between two stellar running backs.
The final game of the regular season is typically a pivotal one for teams like Nebraska that could very well still be in the mix at this point. Going on the road to Iowa will be no easy test for the Cornhuskers either. It's going to be quite the finale.
