The college football season is just around the corner and the LSU Fighting Tigers look to keep up their strong play in the SEC West. After the departure of a handful of athletes, Les Miles and his talented squad will be battling to keep the tradition as a dominant school alive. With that in mind, let's take a look at five players headed for breakout seasons in 2014.

CB Rashard Robinson

With the departure of safety Craig Loston, CB Jalen Mills (availability uncertain due to legal trouble) will be making the switch to safety. This opens up the opportunity for sophomore CB Rashard Robinson. He will be starting opposite senior Tre'Davious White in 2014. Robinson did not see a huge chunk of action as a freshman, but when on the field, his presence was felt. Look for the sophomore defensive back to take the next step this season.

With Ego Ferguson and Anthony Johnson moving on to the next level, Quentin Thomas and Christian LaCourture will be handling duties as the starting defensive tackles. Both look to have breakout campaigns in 2014, but I like what I see from LaCourture just a little bit better. He's got outstanding size and strength at the point of attack and could end up being quite the disruptive force on the line.

WR Travin Dural

Mark my words -- Travin Dural is going to blow up this year. After backing up the nation's top receiving duo in 2013 (Odell Beckham Jr, Jarvis Landry), the sophomore is going to have a tremendous year as LSU's starting WR-X. On top of his outstanding hands, he's got the speed and long stride to blow by defenders. He will shine in LSU's offense, especially in the deep game.

LB Kendell Beckwith

Beckwith is an incredible physical specimen. The sophomore possesses the speed, strength and versatility to be a major impact on the Tigers' defense. With D.J. Welter as the starting Mike linebacker, Beckwith's playing time may be limited at first, but I believe this will be the year he breaks out. He's got a very bright future in Baton Rouge playing under Les Miles.

RB Terrence Magee

After rushing for 626 and eight touchdowns on only 86 attempts (7.27 yards per carry) last year, Terrence Magee is poised for a huge season in 2014. With Jeremy Hill now playing professional ball with the Cincinnati Bengals, Magee is the front-runner to lead the Tigers' tandem in the backfield. His strength and versatility can do some major damage to opposing defenses. Breaking 1,000 yards is a definite possibility for the senior.

The LSU Tigers start their season August 30 against the Wisconsin Badgers in Houston as part of the Advocare Texas Kickoff. The LSU Tigers football schedule will see the team play Conference games against the Mississippi State, New Mexico State, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Alabama, Arkansas and Texas A&M. Their final home game at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, LA will be played on November 8 against Alabama.
